SOME LESSER KNOWN FACTS ABOUT NATIONAL CONSTITUTION DAY

National Constitution Day or National Law Day is also known as Samvidhan Divas. The day 26 November is Commemorate every year as the adoption of Constitution of India. As India has enriched with diversed heritage and culture, Indian Constitution also have Incredible and Flexible features that make India as the Largest Democratic Nation across the globe.

Here are some Historic Rare facts about the Constitution of India, that everyone must know :

1. It is the Longest Constitution in the World.

The Indian Constitution is the longest of any sovereign country in the world. To its current form, it has a Preamble, 22 Parts with 448 Articles, 12 Schedules, ‘5 Appendices and 115 Amendments.

2. In its Original form, the Constitution of India was Handwritten by PREM BEHARI.

It was beautifully written in Flowing Italic Style with Calligraphy done by Prem Behari Narain Raizada. The Constitution was first Published in Dehradun and Photolithographed by the Survey of India.

3. On 9 December 1946, the Constitutent Assembly met for the First Time.

The Assembly was considered as the First Parliament of the Independent India in which Dr. Sachchidananda Sinha was the first President of the Constitutent Assembly.

4. Before Finalising the First draft 2,000 Amendments were made to the Indian Constitution.

When the draft was prepared and put up in discussion, Over 2,000 Amendments were made before it Finalised.

5. The Designing and Decoration of Every page was done by Artists from Shantiniketan.

As the Original Constitution is handwritten and every page is decorate uniquely by artists from Shantiniketan including Beohar Rammanohar Sinha and Nandalal Bose.

6. Production of the Indian Constitution initially took 5 years. On 26 january 1950, it became as Law of India.

The day 26 january 1950, was chosen to declared as PURNA SWARAJ (Complete Independence) of India and Hence the Constitution was Legally Enforced.

7. On 26 November 1949, the final draft of Constitution was Ready.

The Constitutent Assemly gathered for a total of 11 sessions. The 11th session was held between 14-26 November 1949. On 26 November 1949, the Constitutent Assembly made the final draft ready.

8. The Original Copies of Indian Constitution are placed and stored in Special care.

The original Hindi and English copies of the Indian Constitution are kept in Speical helium-filled cases in the Library of Parliament of India.

9. On 24 Jnauary 1950, Signing of the Indian Constitution was done by the Constitutent Assmebly.

Almost 284 members of the Assembly signed the Indian Constitution at the Constitution Hall, which is now known as the Central Hall of Parliament (NewDelhi).

10. The National Emblem of India was Adopted On 26 january 1950.

The Day was declared as the Republic Day of India, along with the adoption of Ashoka as the emblem of the Dominion of India in December 1947.
