Mann seeks special grant for channelising Chitti Bein
Urges CM to give Granth worth Rs 5 crore for Sri Guru Ravidass temple Chak Hakim
Reiterates district status for Phagwara from CM
Khaati (Phagwara), 28 November 2021 : Former Punjab Minister and Chairman of Punjab Agro industries corporation Joginder Singh Mann today impressed upon Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi to issue grant worth Rs 1 crore for channelisation of chitti bein.
The former Minister who handed over a memorandum to the Chief Minister here at Khati said that the bein which enters Phagwara from Nasirabad till Maheru causes lot of havoc every year. He said that the Bein causes lot of loss to farmers every year. He urged the CM to issue funds worth Rs 1 crore for taming the bein.
The Chairman also sought a grant worth Rs 5 crore for Sri Guru Ravidass ji temple at village Chak Hakim. He said this temple is blessed to have footprints of Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj ji who stayed here. He urged the Chief Minister that this temple must be given this grant for its holistic development.
Setting the tone for getting District status for Phagwara, former Punjab Minister also urged Punjab Chief Minister for making Phagwara a district.He said that Phagwara is a major town of Punjab but due to administrative works residents have to go more than 40 kilometres away at Kapurthala, which is its district headquarter. So, Mr Mann urged the Chief Minister that to facilitate people, Phagwara must be made a district by including Phillaur, Goraya, Nakodar and few other parts SBS Nagar in it.
The Chairman also demanded that Phagwara must be included in Smart City scheme for its holistic development. Flagging another important issue Mann said that most of the SC students have suffered due to discrepancies in post matric scholarship scheme adding that the political leaders and officers involved in this heinous crime must be put behind the bar and exemplary punishment must be ensured to them for ruining career of SC students. The former Minister also demanded that a state of the art convention centre should be set up at Phagwara in memory of Bharat Ratna Baba Sahib Dr BR Ambedkar.
He also urged the Chief Minster that existing civil hospital in Phagwara must be upgraded with state of the art facilities including trauma centre. Mr Mann also said that in order to impart quality education to youngsters a premier government college must be established in a Phagwara.The Former Minister also said that to open new vistas of self employment for youth by imparting quality technical education a government polytechnic/ ITI must be set up at Phagwara.
He also said that as many new localities have come up in and around Phagwara city, so 100% water supply and sewerage facility must be ensured in city. Likewise, Mr Mann also demanded that rural road network must be upgraded and strengthened for benefitting commuters.The former Minister also urged the Chief Minister that as Phagwara is Hub of industry so a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) must be set up in Phagwara and incentives must be given to local industry.
