WITH OVER 13 LAKH KHASRA ENTRIES MADE ONLINE, JALANDHAR BECOMES FIRST IN STATE TO ACCOMPLISH E-GIRDAWARI : DC GHANSHYAM THORI

JALANDHAR, 17 SEPTEMBER 2021 : In another distinction, Jalandhar has become the first district to accomplish hundred percent E-Girdawari or crops of last year’s Kharif season by making over 13.53 lakh Khasra entries online within stipulated time-frame.

Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that a mammoth exercise was initiated to achieve this herculean task in the district wherein as many as 13,53,542 Khasra numbers were made online. He said that 59540 khasra entries were made online in Mehatpur sub tehsil, followed by 98,244, 1,61,865, 96,301, 1,33,767, 76,031, 1,41,764, 1,72,979, 79,388, 1,17,465, 1,04,858, and 1,10,683 entries in Tehsils/Sub Tehsils of Jalandhar-2, Shahkot, Goraya, Phillaur, Lohian, Nurmahal, Nakodar, Kartarpur, Jalandhar-1, Adampur, and Bhogpur respectively.

Throwing light on the project, The DC said that while taking a step further in the direction of digitisation, the state government had ordered E-girdawari of crops for the kharif season of 2020. He added that girdawari is a document, in which the patwari enters the name of owner, name of cultivator, land/khasra number, area, kind of land, cultivated and non cultivated area, source of irrigation, name of crop and its conditions, revenue and rate of revenue etc, minimum twice in a year.
“ Several officials had been tasked with the responsibility of making girdawari online and hundred percent of records have been updated online within a given time-frame,” said Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori.

Thori mentioned that the district administration had worked round the clock to ensure completion of this task within the due timeline so that the farm community was benefited with digitization of revenue records. Notably, the girdawari is a process under which patwaris prepare records of crops based on Shijra Lathaa (a map drawn on a piece of cloth) after visiting the fields.
