July 02, 2021: The world can be a cruel place, but for the LGBTQIA+ community, it has some other worse plans!

Queer folk normally known as ‘strange or indifferent people’, around the world are subject to homophobic language, for eg.:- ‘SWAG’ which referred as ‘secretly we are gay’. One such expression in Brazil is “Essa Coca é Fanta” or “That Coke is a Fanta.”

While this might seem funny to some, but such expressions are extremely insensitive and hurtful and you never know what it would lead to.

To fight against prejudice, Coca-Cola came up with an unique strategy and launched a limited edition Coke can with Fanta inside, featuring the message: This Coke is a Fanta. So what?

(you can watch the campaign video on YouTube)

The launch was scheduled around a Carnival in Brazil and became a huge hit among the community and allies alike! People began making their own versions of Coke Fantas with other packaging and even created knock-off merchandise.

As a result of this, the phrase that once was associated with bullying and shame became a phrase that people would use with pride.

Coca-Cola is one of the most popular soft drinks brand in Brazil. While the country is largely queer-friendly, violence against the LGBTQIA+ community still persists. These kind of support coming from an influential brand, really influence many to walk on the path of equality.

The ones who are always parallel with the trend and active on their social media accounts have already banged the sites by making posts, memes and creative reels and reviews.

The campaign got many people to reconsider their attitudes towards queer folk. We hope to see more campaigns like this one. Cause every human matters.
