Jalandhar, June 10, 2021- Lauding the efforts of the teacher fraternity in making Punjab a leader state in the country in the field of education, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday said that the state government was firmly committed to restoring the pristine glory of the education sector in the state. Participating in a virtual interaction event to mark this benchmark achievement, MLA Sushil Rinku and Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government has kept its promise by making Punjab a emerging state in the field of education in the entire country. They said that the state would ever remain indebted to the teachers for their strenuous efforts which made Punjab number one in school education in the country. The MLA and DC also lauded the chief minister’s direction to the education department to explore possibilities for launching a program to introduce foreign language as an optional subject for the desirous students of government schools. They stated that such an effort emphasizing that such a course would enable students to compete globally by learning foreign languages and would help to shape their career. They said that the Captain government has taken a slew of initiatives to improve education infrastructure in the state including induction of smart schools, online transfer policy for teachers, construction of new class rooms, and ramping up enrollment, etc., which have paved the way for this glaring success. Assistant Commissioner Hardeep Singh, District Education Officer Harinderpal Singh, and others were present on the occasion.
