Indian Oil Punjab State Masters Badminton Championship Concludes

–    Amritsar’s Mayank Behl becomes Masters Punjab Champion

–    Double Crown for Ram Lakhan, Ranjit, Arun Dhand and Sanjeev

Jalandhar,   19  February  2023   :    The Indian Oil Punjab State Masters Badminton Championship 2023, being organized by the District Badminton Association at Raizada Hansraj Badminton Stadium concluded on Sunday. A total of 180 matches were played in the championship. Mr. Ritin Khanna, Secretary, DBA and former national player told that Mayank Behl from amritsar won the title of Men’s singles 35+ and Ram Lakhan, Ranjit, Arun Dhand and Sanjeev won the double crowns in their respective age groups.

 

The prizes were distributed to the winners by the chief guest Mr. Mohinder Chopra, Senior Vice President, Punjab Badminton Association. Mr. Mohinder Chopra patted the entire DBA team for this successful event and said that such events increase the enthusiasm of the players. Mr. Ritin Khanna told that former Punjab champion Mr. Kanwaljit Singh Kaka was honored by Punjab Badminton Association and District Badminton Association.

 

Kaka has represented Punjab in national competitions for three decades. In the closing ceremony, Mr. Anupam Kumaria, Secretary (PBA), Mr. Rakesh Khanna, Vice President (PBA), Sh. Shamsher Dhillon, Sh.Chittaranjan Bansal Joint Secretary (PBA), Dheeraj Sharma, International players Sachin Ratti, Navdeep Singh and a large number of players were present. The winners of this championship will represent Punjab in the Indian Masters National Badminton Championship 2022-23 to be held in Goa from March 19 to 26.

PBA gave Rs 51000/- to National Champion Tanvi Sharma

Sub-Junior National Champion Tanvi Sharma was awarded an amount of Rs 51,000 by PBA. Tanvi Sharma is the only player who has won the title of Under 15, Under 17 National Championship and won Silver Medal in Under 19 National Championship.

Mayank Behl of Amritsar defeated Anuj Dhand of Ludhiana by 21-8, 21-16.

In Men’s Singles (40 age group) 

Lakhwinder Pal Singh of PSPCL defeated Jaswant Singh of Barnala by 21-8, 21-16.

In Men’s Singles (45 age group)

Sanjeev Kumar of Sangrur defeated Mohammad Salim of PSPCL.

In Men’s Singles (50 age group)

Ranjit Singh of Kapurthala defeated Santokh Singh of Jalandhar by 21-14, 21-16.

In Men’s Singles (55 age group) 

Davinder Singh of Pathankot defeated Rajeev Kakkar of Jalandhar by 21-17, 13-21, 21-19.

In Men’s Singles (60 age group)

Ram Lakhan of Jalandhar defeated Anupam Kumaria of Ludhiana 21-11, 21-14.

In Men’s Singles (65 age group)

Arun Dhand of Ludhiana defeated VB Sood of Ludhiana 21-6, 21-7.
