Phagwara, 23  March   2022  :  Former Punjab Minister and Aam Aadmi party leader Mr Joginder Singh Mann today met the Punjab Chief Minister Mr Bhagwant Mann and sought District status for Phagwara.

In a written communique handed over to the Chief Minister, Mr Mann apprised the Chief Minister that Phagwara is a historic town of the state with immense social and political significance. He said that the wise and able citizens of Phagwara have played a key role in social, economic and political progress of the state. Mr Mann said that depriving the Phagwara residents of District status is a sheer injustice with them.

The former Minister bemoaned that Phagwara is a major town of Punjab but for their routine administrative works residents of this town have to go more than 70 kilometres to and fro away at Kapurthala, which is its district headquarter. He said that this causes lot of inconvenience to people. He urged the Chief Minister that to facilitate people Phagwara must be made a district by including Phillaur, Goraya, Nakodar and few other parts SBS Nagar in it.

Mr Mann said that it will a big help to the people in getting their routine works done without any wastage of their time, money and energy. He urged the Chief Minister to fulfil this long pending demand of the Phagwara residents at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister assured Mr Mann that the state government will sympathetically look into the genuine demand of Phagwara residents in this regards.
