4 TOURISTS FROM PUNJAB ARRESTED IN MANALI FOR BRANDISHING SWORDS & ALLEGEDLY ATTACKING LOCALS

Himachal Pradesh, July 16, 2021: Four men from Punjab have been arrested in Himachal Pradesh’s Manali for brandishing swords and allegedly attacking a local. A video of the incident has now gone viral on social media, where the tourists can be seen taking out their swords following a scuffle with the local.

The incident took place 100 meters away from the Manali police station. The scuffle broke out after one car was seen overtaking the other. Following this, the local was attacked and two of the tourists were seen brandishing swords. The local suffered minor injuries and a case has been registered against the five tourists under relevant sections of IPC. Four of them have been arrested while one is absconding.

Earlier, photos from Manali went viral where several tourists were seen on the streets and not maintaining social distancing. Many visitors were seen clicking selfies, taking walks, and other activities without covering their faces. The locals in Manali feared of a third Covid wave and urged tourists to following Covid-19 protocols during the visit.

Chaman Kapoor, President of Municipal Council Manali shared his views and said – “We cannot stop people visiting Manali. Everyone is welcome, but as responsible citizens, they should follow the social distancing norms as the third Covid wave is almost round the corner.”
