Yashpal Sharma- India’s second-highest scorer in the 1983 World Cup cricket dies after heart attack
Chandigarh, July 13 2021 : Ace cricketer and India’s second-highest scorer in the 1983 World Cup cricket tournament Yashpal Sharma today passed after a heart attack.
The remarkable player from Punjab played crucial innings during the 1983 World Cup in which India lifted the cup by defeating two times champion West Indies at England. During the tournament he had score an aggregate of 240 runs from 8 innings at an average of 34.28. This was the second highest score of any Indian cricketer during the World Cup in which stalwarts like Sunil Gavaskar, K Srikanth, Ravi Shastri, Roger Binny and others were part of Indian squad led by Kapil Dev.
As a fact of matter Yashpal Sharma had registered three of his five highest ODI career scores in the 1983 World Cup.
