Revenue Minister Aruna Chaudhary Orders Special Girdawari to assess Crop Damage
Chandigarh, 25 October 2021 : To assess the damage caused to the crops due to the recent unseasonal rains, Punjab Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary has directed the revenue department to conduct special girdawari in the state and asked deputy commissioners to submit report within a week.
Mrs. Chaudhary directed the deputy commissioners to ensure that girdawari of damage to the crop standing in the fields should be done within the stipulated time so, that the farmers could be compensated as soon as possible. She assured the farmers that in this hour of crisis, the state government stand by the farmers and fully committed for their welfare.
Meanwhile, financial commissioner revenue Mr. V.K. Janjuaa asked the deputy commissioners to carry out the work of special girdawari in a speedy and transparent manner and submit a detailed report regarding the damage to the crops.
He said that immediately after receiving the report, it would be forwarded to the state executive committee headed by the chief secretary for the compensation as per the prescribed norms. According to the Financial Commissioner Revenue, strict instructions have been issued to deputy commissioners to verify the girdawari reports compiled by the revenue department within the set time limit.
