OXYGEN CONCENTRATOR BANK BREATHES LIFE TO 105 PEOPLE

Since its inception on May 13, the oxygen concentrator bank set up at precincts of Red Cross Bhawan has provided five people daily and so far, 105 people have availed services of the bank.

All these 105 included who either in home isolation or recovered from Covid-19 but needs short term oxygen support.

Disclosing further details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the administration has also received the applications from Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Phagwara and Moga and it has duly delivered the medical device to them promptly amidst shortage of oxygen due to deadly wave of Covid in the last month.He said that the Red Cross Society has gone beyond the call of duty since the bank had come up and dealt each application effectively. He said that none of the applicant left disappointed.                 

The Deputy Commissioner said that the bank was started with 20 machines and it still has 85 concentrators presently and any Covid patient or those need, can take it for home use on the doctor’s prescription and guarantee of device’s functioning under his supervision. Thori said the oxygen concentrator taker has to pay a minimal daily rent of Rs 200 to the administration and submit refundable security of Rs 5,000 to the Red Cross Society.

The DC said the concentrators would be given only after hospital’s prescription and concerned hospital has to ensure machine’s operation under its monitoring adding that the beneficiaries have to arrange for power backup for smooth and uninterrupted oxygen supply to the patients.
