(Rajinder Kumar) SAS NAGAR (MOHALI); 2nd May 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday called upon Punjab’s youth to shift from job-seeking to job creation, asserting from Mohali that his government is actively building an ecosystem where young people can start their own ventures with full state support. He said that the need to migrate abroad in search of employment is being steadily eliminated as opportunities are being created within Punjab itself.
Drawing a sharp contrast with previous Akali and Congress regimes, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that while earlier governments hid behind the excuse of empty coffers, his government has delivered beyond its promises through clean intent and decisive governance, proving that the system was never the limitation but the lack of political will.
Addressing a gathering during a Lok Milni in Mohali’s Saneta village, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “In dearth of any issue against me the opposition is stooping too low by leveling false and baseless personal allegations against me.” He added that he has been making strenuous efforts for the overall development of Punjab due to which the opposition has been baffled. “These leaders are not able to digest that the welfare of the common man and progress of the state is being made. Due to this they are leveling baseless and irrational allegations against me which reflects their desperation and frustration,” he stated.
Emphasizing his approach to governance, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “I might not be having experience of plundering the wealth of people but I have an expertise to share the sorrows of the general public and resolve their issues.” He added that he is working dedicatedly for the well being of the state and prosperity of its people. “Due to this the opposition is upset. Some of the political leaders are not able to digest these things due to which they are repeatedly spitting baseless venom against me,” he said.
Making it clear that such tactics will not affect his resolve, the Chief Minister stated, “Such cheap tactics won’t deter me from serving the people of the state and I will continue this noble task for the overall development of the state.” He added, “My predecessors had never bothered about the state or its people. These haughty leaders always gave preference to their family and vested interests rather than working for the state.” He said that this attitude proved detrimental for Punjab and its people due to which they cannot be forgiven.
Reiterating his point, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Such cheap tactics won’t deter me from serving the people of the state and I will continue this noble task for the overall development of the state.” He added again that his predecessors had never bothered about the state or its people and always gave preference to their family and vested interests. “This attitude of these leaders proved detrimental both for Punjab and its people,” he said.
He further said, “Opposition parties are hatching conspiracies to defame me as they are envious of the works being done by the state government for the well being of the masses.” He added, “These leaders are hand in glove with each other and play the game of musical chairs to secure the interests of each other while in power.” He asserted that the AAP government has upset their applecart by ousting them from power and fulfilling the aspirations of the common people.
Announcing a major initiative, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “I will call on the President of India on May 5 and demand a strict act for checking the defection by the leaders as it is a grave disrespect of the mandate of the people.” He added, “The opportunist leaders change their parties as per their whims and fancies just for the sake of their vested interests which is completely wrong.” He said that such leaders backstab the mandate of the people, which is completely undesirable and intolerable, and added that a new law to check this is the need of the hour.
Highlighting past governance failures, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “For more than 70 long years in the post independence era the traditional opposition parties have mercilessly looted the state.” He added that due to their regressive and divisive policies Punjab lagged behind in development and people suffered. “However, in the last four years holistic development of the state has been ensured and for the first time the state government has fulfilled all the promises made with people in such a short span,” he said.
Expressing satisfaction over progress, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that development of the state has been put on the right track and now the Punjab Government is enhancing its pace with every passing day.” He added that the gap of 70 years has been filled and concerted efforts are being made to carve out a Rangla Punjab. “The AAP government is the first one in the country to implement the People’s Manifesto as all the genuine demands raised by the people are being translated into works,” he said.
Taking on the Akali leadership, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Sukhbir Singh Badal is not aware about the ground realities as throughout his life he has lived in a secured environment with luxuries and opulence.” He added, “Sukhbir Singh Badal is a convent educated political leader of Punjab who is not aware of the basic topography of the state but wants to attain political power in Punjab.” He further said, “Leaving everything aside, the former Deputy Chief Minister cannot even differentiate the basic crops of the state as he has scant knowledge about the basic issues.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The sins of these leaders are unpardonable and they can never be forgiven by the people for their long saga of misdeeds, which are fresh in the minds of people.” He added, “These are opportunist leaders who change their colors and their stance, like a chameleon, as per their convenience and vested political interests.” Training his guns at his predecessors, he said, “These leaders had illegally built huge palaces by amassing whopping wealth by misusing their official positions.”
He further said, “The walls of these palatial palaces were high and the gates usually remained closed for the people.” He added that these leaders remained inaccessible due to which they were ousted by the masses. “People of the state have shown the door to these people who looted them turn by turn,” he said, adding that people are no longer getting swayed by misleading propaganda.
Continuing, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “These haughty politicians had always taken the people of the state for granted due to which they were ultimately shown the door.” He added, “These opportunist leaders are baffled as people are not giving them any sort of response, and their agenda is confined to the welfare of their families rather than that of people.” He emphasized that in consonance with the life and philosophy of Babasaheb Ambedkar, the Punjab Government has prioritized education and taken path breaking initiatives.
Highlighting the importance of education, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “No freebee or concession cards can eliminate poverty or other social maladies in the state but education is the key that can pull people out of this vicious circle by raising their standard of living.” He added, “Earlier leaders left no stone unturned for backstabbing Babasaheb Ambedkar and shattering his dreams.” Citing an example, he said, “During the tenure of Parkash Singh Badal no one was failed in schools till ninth standard due to which students could not realise their weaknesses and later failed in Matric, ruining their lives.”
He further said, “Rather than empowering people through quality education, Badal ensured that students from poor families remained confined to the Atta Dal scheme.” He added that generations of weaker sections remained dependent due to such policies. “These leaders deprived underprivileged sections of education and backstabbed Babasaheb Ambedkar,” he said.
Continuing his attack, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Those who cannot find even five members for constituting a committee of their party are day dreaming to win 117 seats in the state.” He added that such leaders patronised gangsters and drug smugglers, inflicting serious damage on Punjab’s youth. “Akali Dal is a party of political deadwoods which has been rejected by the people time and again,” he said.
The Chief Minister stated, “Akali leadership is building castles in the air to mislead the people but Punjabis will not get swayed.” He added that people will never forgive them and will teach them a befitting lesson again. “They have repeatedly betrayed the state and misused religion for vested political interests,” he said.
Taking on the BJP, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The saffron party is welcome to test its waters in the ensuing assembly polls but it must remember that candidates are required on 117 seats.” He added, “As the party does not have enough leaders, it will borrow candidates from other parties.” He asserted that people are aware of BJP’s track record. “There is a long saga of injustice and step motherly treatment of the party against Punjab and its people,” he said.
Listing key achievements, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “For the first time farmers have been provided more than eight hours of power supply during paddy season with 95% supply during daytime.” He added, “300 units of free electricity per month are being provided to all domestic consumers and around 90% consumers are receiving zero electricity bills.” He further said, “More than 65,000 youngsters have got government jobs and people should enroll under Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna to avail cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This is taxpayers’ money and every single penny is being utilized for public welfare, something missing in earlier regimes.” He added that earlier parties used to play musical chairs to plunder resources. “Baffled by the unprecedented works of the Punjab Government, the opposition is making baseless and irrational statements,” he said.
Reiterating the government’s achievements, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “For the first time in the history of the state more than eight hours of uninterrupted power has been supplied to farm tube wells during paddy season.” He added that farmers are now receiving electricity during the daytime, transforming their lives. “The Punjab Government is judiciously utilizing every single penny of the state exchequer for the well being of the people,” he said.
