Amid Heavy Rains, Punjab Government shuts Colleges, Universities till 3 September
(Rajinder Kumar) Chandigarh, 01 September 2025: Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Monday announced the closure of all colleges, universities, and polytechnic institutes across the state till September 3, 2025, following continuous heavy rainfall.
The minister said the decision has been taken with immediate effect in view of safety concerns. He added that the responsibility for the well-being of students staying in hostels lies with the respective administrations.
Bains urged everyone to strictly follow the guidelines issued by local authorities amid the flood-like situation.
