Harnoor Singh Harji Mann is new president of DYC Kapurthala
Kapurthala, 28 August 2021 : Recognising the immense contribution of youth Congress leader Harnoor Singh Harji Mann in strengthening the Congress party, the Indian Youth Congress has appointed him as the working president of District youth Congress Kapurthala with immediate effect.
The orders to this regard were issued late evening on Friday. Harnoor Singh Harji Mann was elected as Vice President of the District Youth Congress and his elevation assumes significance as he is the first Dalit youth Congress leader to be appointed on this post. The move of high command is seen as an attempt by the youth congress leadership to give bigger role to dalits in organisation on one hand and to further strengthen it at the grass root level by ensuring fair representation to dalits. Harji Mann is the aggressive face of youth congress who has been on forefront to disseminate party’s message amongst the youth and vehemently opposing the BJP led Modi government both in state and national level.
Overwhelmed, Harji Mann said that the responsibility has filled him with more humility to serve the party and make the youth join it. Thanking Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu and specially Kapurthala MLA Rana Gurjit Singh for the appointment, he said that their blessings and guidance have made him tread this path. He also expressed gratitude to All India Youth Congress President B Srinivas, National Secretaries Bunty Shelke and Mukesh Kumar, Punjab Youth Congress President Barinder Singh Dhillon and others for the appointment.
Pertinently, Harji Mann is the son of senior Congress leader and former Punjab Minister Joginder Singh Mann, and grandson of congress stalwart and former Union Home Minister Sardar Buta Singh. He is the third generation of his family to dedicate himself in service of public.
It may be recalled that former youth Congress president Saurav Khullar was suspended following his indiscipline and anti party activities.
