ADMINISTRATION PROVIDES 216812 FUNCTIONAL TAP WATER CONNECTIONS IN DISTRICT : DC GHANSHYAM THORI
Jalandhar, 25 August 2021 : With an aim to provide potable water to all rural households, the district administration Jalandhar has successfully covered as many as 216812 houses with functional tab water connections in Jalandhar district.
Presiding over a review meeting, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that Jalandhar has a total of 2,30,385 households in a rural area and it has already covered 2,16,812 households under Har Ghar Pani program with 94.11 percent coverage.
Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (UD) Himanshu Jain, the Deputy Commissioner said that the administration was committed to providing functional tap water connection to each and every household so that people have the access to clean drinking water. He said that the regular review of the program and concerted efforts by the executive engineers and Junior Engineers of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department have made this mission a success in the district.
Meanwhile, he also lauded the efforts of the water supply & sanitation department for completing 100 percent toilets under SBM Phase-I by constructing as many as 19809 toilets in the district. He mentioned that a total of 6931 toilets were provided in block Rurka Kalan, Jalandhar East, Phillaur, Nurmahal, followed by 6324 in Adampur, Bhogpur, and Jalandhar West blocks, and 6554 in Nakodar, Lohian, and Shahkot blocks.
Likewise, the DC also reviewed progress of all three phases of the Urban Environment Improvement Program and stated that as many as 296 development works would soon be started in the district under the third phase of this program. He also reviews various flagship programs like Ghar-Ghar Rojgar Yojna, Smart Village Campaign, construction of playground and schools in villages besides others.
Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration was duty-bound to serve the people by ensuring the benefit of various schemes launched by the state government so that they do not face any sort of inconvenience.
He said that all development projects would prove game-changers to transform the lives and destiny of people residing in this town. All the SDMs were also present in the meeting.
