Supervisor of private company dismissed from services for taking bribes from meter readers
Patiala, 12 July 2024 : Under the able leadership of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann and directions of Power Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has dismissed a supervisor of a private meter reading company (Explore-Tech Services Pvt. Ltd.) from services in Gidderbaha for demanding money from meter readers as part of its anti-corruption campaign.
Providing information about this, Chief Engineer Enforcement Eng. Inderpal Singh said that the complaint was investigated by Eng. Gagandeep Singla, Additional Superintending Engineer Enforcement – 1 Bathinda. During this, statements of meter readers working under the company, voice recordings presented by them, and other evidence were examined. During the investigation, Bal Krishan, the supervisor of the meter reading company, was found guilty of taking bribes for entering reading data. After this, taking action, PSPCL dismissed the concerned supervisor from the company’s services.
On this occasion, PSPCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Eng. Baldev Singh Sran gave a clear message stating that any officer or employee found not doing their work honestly will not be spared under any circumstances. He said that corruption within the department will not be tolerated at any cost.
It is noteworthy that complaints against the supervisor included allegations of harassment. According to the complainants, they were being harassed by the supervisor to give him money. They had also registered their complaint with PSPCL along with presenting evidence in this regard.
In this series, in his statement, a meter reader named Joginder Singh had revealed that they have to start data in the system, and this data is entered by supervisor Bal Krishan, but the supervisor used to demand money for entering the data and pressure was created for this. So much so that a demand of 1500 to 2000 rupees was made for one billing group. Finally, we have to give money compulsorily. In this regard, he had revealed that the supervisor had also demanded money from meter readers Rajnish Kumar, Deepu Ram, Manpreet Singh, Gursharan, Lovpreet, Satnam. They also presented audio recordings regarding this.
