DC directs extensive drive against vector borne diseases, orders challaning where larvae found
– Asks MC and the health department to conduct a door-to-door survey for checking the breeding ground of mosquitoes
Ludhiana, 2 July 2024 : Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney called for the concerted efforts from the Municipal Corporation, Health, Rural Development and Panchayats departments to launch a major campaign to control the spread of vector-borne diseases in the district.
During a meeting held at Bachat Bhawan, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need to identify and take action against places that are susceptible to mosquito breeding. She urged the Health and Municipal Corporation authorities to conduct door-to-door surveys and issue fines for any instances of mosquito larvae found in water storage containers like air coolers and other waste items in houses. She also asked the MC Ludhiana to conduct water sampling in Giaspura and nearby localities near Sahnewal.
It was also stressed that government offices should be thoroughly inspected to prevent mosquito breeding in air coolers, old utensils, and other containers. She reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of the residents by actively addressing the menace of vector-borne diseases.
Sawhney highlighted the importance of making elaborate arrangements in a timely manner to tackle these vector-borne diseases effectively. She emphasized the need for raising awareness and enforcement, especially in urban areas, to contain the spread of dengue cases, and requested the health department to ensure water sampling in schools.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the Tobacco control program, immunization, Ooat centers, AB-Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna, Cancer Rahat Kosh Scheme, TB Control program, and other activities carried out by the health department.
