Will chaos return back in Jalandhar ?

Jalandhar , May 22 | It was till recently Jalandhar city was in complete chaos due to traffic snarls, haphazard parking, enhanced crime and illegal encroachments as the authorities were least bothered about changing this dismal picture of the city.

But all of the sudden things changed as 2009 firebrand IPS officer Swapan Sharma took charge of the city as Commissioner of Police and devised a result oriented strategy to combat these menaces. He prepared a detailed blueprint for streamlining traffic movement, checking crime rate, nabbing anti-social elements and even removing the illegal encroachments to ensure that city residents are benefitted from it. He ensured that there is a complete coordination between civil and police administration along with the Municipal corporation for flawless execution of his designs.

The results were miraculous as within few days the traffic movement was seamless, the haphazard parking was checked with heavy hand, the violators of law were punished and the cops along with other resources of the Police was used for betterment of people. The Emergency Response System was activated with full response so that people do not face any sort of problem. The city witnessed a complete transformation during the impressive tenure of the officer who took a number of noble initiatives to ensure that effective, responsive and transparent policing was provided to people.

For the first time in last two decades the traffic movement was streamlined to facilitate the general public. But the joy of Jalandhar residents seem to be short lived as the Election Commission has ordered the transfer of the Commissioner of Police. However the city residents are now keeping the fingers crossed whether in the absence of Swapan Sharma chaos will return back in Jalandhar.
