SPEED UP RECOVERY FROM WILLFUL DEFAULTERS UNDER INDIAN STAMP ACT, ENSURE DISPOSAL OF COURT CASES- DC ASKS REVENUE OFFICERS

Jalandhar, 24 August 2021 : Taking a serious note of pending recovery worth Rs. 19.93 crore against defaulters under section 48 of Indian Stamp Act, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today directed the revenue officers to speed up the recovery from the willful defaulters while laying thrust that any type of laxity in this task will not be tolerated at any cost.

Presiding over a meeting with revenue officers to review the collection of recovery, revenue records, E-Court Management system, entering of mutations within stipulated time-line here at District Administrative Complex today, Thori said that the revenue officers must give topmost priority to the collection of all recoveries for enhancing the revenue of the state government.

The Deputy Commissioner also asked Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to personally monitor the cases about recoveries so that the process could be expedited. He also said that the recovery of pending arrears from the willful defaulters needs to be ensured at the earliest.

Meanwhile, he reviewed progress on the E-Court Management system and pendency in revenue courts and directed the officials to ensure timely disposal of revenue cases pending in their courts besides submitting a report to his office. He personally oversaw old cases in revenue courts and asked concerned officers to ensure disposal of such cases on a priority basis.

Prominent amongst present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Bains, Sub Divisional Magistrates Harpreet Atwal, Balbir Raj Singh, Bal Vishwash, Poonam Singh, and others.
