Face of Government’s anti-drug tirade shifted as SSP from Hoshiarpur
Hoshiarpur, 20 August 2021 : The Police reshuffle on Friday came as a surprise for many as face of Punjab government’s anti-drug tirade was today shifted as SSP from Hoshiarpur.
Ever since Punjab government had launched campaign against drugs in the state, PPS officer Navjot Singh Mahal had emerged as the real face of anti drug tirade in the state. As SSP in Khanna, Jalandhar and now in Hoshiarpur Mahal broke the backbone of drug peddlers in the state by confiscating the maximum supply of drugs. His presence boosted the morale of Police force against this war and he ensured that war against drugs was one by all means.
Not only drugs but gangsters were also on the hit list of Mahal and he arrested number of gangsters and recovered large number of weapons from them. Mahal planned and executed a fool proof strategy for busting the gangsters thereby reducing the crime rate considerably. He personally supervised all such operations to ensure that law and order was maintained at all cost.
However his transfer came as a surprise for many as he is considered as one of the best and decorated Police officers of the state. Though the transfers are largely politically motivated but one thing is sure that this transfer will hit the image of state government’s talk Claim to act sternly against drugs and gangsters thereby reducing the morale of dedicated Police officers.
