LOK ADALAT COMES AS “BOON” FOR ESTRANGED COUPLES
– 5300 different cases were disposed off in National Lok Adalat
Fatehgarh Sahib, 12 November 2022 : Today, National Lok Adalat was held at Sessions Division at Fatehgarh Sahib under the directions of National Legal Services Authority and Punjab Legal Service Authority, under the Chairmanship of Sh.Nirbhow Singh Gill, Chairman-cum-District & Sessions Judge, Fatehgarh Sahib alongwith Ms.Manpreet Kaur, Secretary District Legal Service Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib.
Lok Adalat means people’s Court. It is a forum where disputes/cases pending in the Court of laws or at pre-litigative stages are settled/compromised amicably and it has gained the tremendous popularity in the shape of Alternative Disputes Redressal Forum, through which anybody can get his or her dispute referred to Lok Adalat for its settlement through mediation or reconciliation.
The National Lok Adalat has been held today at Fatehgarh Sahib and today’s Lok Adalat virtually came as “Boon” for estranged couples as these couples had filed divorce petitions, but the proceedings were withdrawn and they were united with the intervention of the Lok Adalat. In one of the matrimonial case, parties were litigating since 2019 they withdrew their proceedings and started living together. Moreover, the Bank personnel’s especially officials of State Bank of India & Punjab National Bank took keen interest in disposing of around 2000 pre-litigative cases. It was informed that more than 5300 different cases were disposed off in this Sessions Division and about 5,00,00,000/- (five crores) amount was disbursed.
