– WITH THE AIM OF KEEPING THE ENVIRONMENT CLEAN AND TIDY, D.C AND OTHER OFFICIERS CLEANED UP THE RUBBISH OUTSIDE THE ADMINISTRATIVE COMPLEX
SAS NAGAR, 5 JUNE 2022 : World Environment Day was celebrated by the District Administration Mohali with full zeal & enthusiasm in connection with the World Environment Day being celebrated on 5th June all over the world, . On this occasion Deputy Commissioner Mr. Amit Talwar and other officers planted saplings outside the premises of District Administrative Complex under the slogan “Each one Plant one”. This was followed by a bicycle rally in collaboration with NGOs, Nehru Youth Centre (NYK), school children and youth clubs.
Disclosing this in a press communique, Mr. Amit Talwar, Deputy Commissioner said that the problem of environment was becoming more serious day by day. He said that the tragedy was that human beings have only one earth to live in but due to the irresponsible attitude of human beings towards the environment the basic necessities of life such as air, water, soil was getting polluted.
He said that World Environment Day is celebrated on 5th June all over the world to create awareness among the people about the purity and protection of environment. He said that District Administration Mohali had drawn up various programs in connection with the environment day. He said that trees were very much needed for human life but trees were being cut down day by day. He said that the saplings were planted by the officials outside the district administrative complex to spread the message of “Each one Plant one”.
Deputy Commissioner disclosed that the district administration would soon set up 100 ‘Mini Forests’ in the district. He said that the sites have been identified by the administration for the establishment of these forests. At the same time to convey the message of cleanliness, the authorities picked up plastic envelopes, garbage and other harmful substances inside and outside the district administrative complex.
The Deputy Commissioner said that after this a cycle rally was organized in collaboration with NGOs, Nehru Youth Centre (NYK), Jag Jieondeya de Mele Club, Jugni Culture and Welfare Club, school children and cyclists of youth clubs. In this cycle rally Deputy Commissioner Mr. Amit Talwar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ms. Amaninder Kaur Brar, SDM Mohali Mr. Harbans Singh, Assistant Commissioner Mr. Tarsem Chand also participated. The cycle rally started from District Administrative Complex went past by Wave Estate and after covering a distance of about 10 kms it ended at District Administrative Complex. This was followed by a Nukkad Natak “Apni Dharti Apna Environment” staged by Desi Theatre.
On this occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner (UD) Mrs. Pooja S. Grewal, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Tehsildar (Elections) besides office bearers of Jugni Culture and Welfare Club and Jag Jeondeya de Mele Club, Davinder Singh Jugni, Mr. Jaspreet Randhawa, Harpreet Honey, Lakhwinder Lakhi, Harinderpal Singh and Bhupinder Jhajj were also present.
