In a healing touch to the family of a four-year-old girl, whose foot was got cut off in a road accident in Kapurthala, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Ghanshyam Thori on Tuesday assured complete financial assistance in her treatment by paying Rs. one lakh to the hospital along with sponsoring medicines’ expenditure from Red Cross Society. However, the treatment worth Rs. 50000 has been ensured through the Ayushman Bharat Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that in a road accident a couple of days ago, a 4 years old girl Dikhsha had lost her foot, which was reattached by the doctors after six hours long surgery. He stated that the family members had approached the administration for assistance as the father of affected girl Diksha is a daily wager and can’t afford the expenses incurred on her treatment.
Keeping in view the financial condition of the family, the Deputy Commissioner immediately released funds of Rs. one lakh from the Red Cross Society apart from free-of-cost medicines. In addition to this, treatment worth Rs. 50000 has been ensured under the Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna.
The DC said that some local relatives of the victim girl had approached him seeking help as the plastic surgery to reattach her cut-off limb cost Rs. two lakh, which her family was unable to pay. He added that the District Red Cross Society was asked to pay Rs. one lakh to Joshi Hospital, where treatment of the girl is underway. Mr. Thori reiterated the administration’s commitment to assist underprivileged and weaker sections of society with such endeavors. He also assured the family of bearing any kind of additional expenditure, if any, so that the family does not face any kind of financial burden.
Hailing the efforts of the Jalandhar administration, Raj Kumar Chaudhry, a social activist stated that he had brought this incident in the knowledge of Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar through a WhatsApp group, which the administration had formed to connect with the NGOs. He added that acting swiftly on this request, the DC Ghanshyam Thori immediately issued financial assistance worth Rs. one lakh for the distressed family besides ensuring treatment worth Rs. 50000 under Sarbat Sehat Bima yojna. He mentioned that this help would prove to be a boon for the family as it would keep them from any kind of debt trap.
