The Jalandhar Literary Forum gave a Memorandum to The Honourable Mayor: to Re-establish Municipal Library
Members of the forum honoured Mayor Vaneet Dhir by presenting Books by famous writer Paulo Coelho
Mayor Vaneet Dhir promised to re-establish and has formed a committee for the same. The members of Jalandhar Literary forum today had interaction with the honourable Mayor and first citizen of Jalandhar Sh. Vaneet Dhir and gave a memorandum regarding the establishment of the Municipal Library which was dismantled while the renovation of the building. After going through the memorandum given by the forum, Mayor has promised that Jalandhar Municipal Corporation will revive its historic library, which was established during the municipality’s time. Mayor Vaneet Dhir made this instant decision while receiving a memorandum from the delegation of Jalandhar Literary Forum, which is actively involved in promoting reading and other literary streams.
The Mayor sought information from Corporation Superintendent Mr. Walia in the presence of the delegation and immediately ordered to form a committee to take necessary steps for a temporary arrangement. On this occasion, Mr. Vaneet Dhir informed the delegation that in the coming few months, the Municipal Corporation is going to construct its new Town Hall, where this historic Municipal library, consisting of the rare ancient books of the city, will be set up with state-of-the-art facilities.
The delegation of Jalandhar Literary Forum was led by Forum Convener Advocate Navjot Singh. The delegation included Forum Co-Convener and Jagda Punjab Co-Convener Rakesh Shantidoot, Secretary Advocate Suteekshan Samrol, District Bar Association Senior Vice President Advocate Ram Chhabra, industrialist Vineet Oberoi, Davinder Sharma, Pramod Parashar, Anju Bala, Manjubala, Satpreet Kaur Panesar, J P Singh (all advocates), Rohan Batra, V K Khanna, Amarinder Singh Thind.
On this occasion, Forum Convener Advocate Navjot Singh apprised the Mayor about the importance of reading & the need to revive this library. All the members of the Forum also presented a set of books as a courtesy gift to Mr. Vineet Dheer. The members of the forum honoured Mayor Vaneet Dhir by presenting him with a set of best-selling books written by the world famous writer Paulo Coelho. He is a Brazilian novelist known for employing rich symbolism in his depictions of the often spiritually motivated journeys taken by his characters, and his books are very famous and have been translated into various languages.
