SUNDER SHAM ARORA KICK-STARTS HOSHIARPUR SMART BIKES PROJECT UNDER MISSION TANDRUST PUNJAB

HOSHIARPUR,29 AUGUST 2021 : Under Mission Tandrust Punjab, the Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Sunday kickstarted the Hoshiarpur Smart Bikes Project on the occasion of National Sports Day thus paving a way to ensure such a cycling facility like other metro cities in the country.
Launching the project, the Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora said that the project had been commenced to further promote and strengthen the cycling in the area, which would certainly facilitate all age groups interested in this practice. A cycle rally was also organised on this occasion, in which Cabinet Minister, Mayor, Deputy Commissioner and other officers/officials also took part. A video highlighting the different features of smart bikes was also shown to the people.
Interacting with the media persons, the Minister said that this project was a gift to people of Hoshiarpur on National Sports Day. As the city and its surroundings has a healthy environment for cycling, the Minister said that cyclists from other districts too came here for this purpose. Punjab Government always committed to encourage youngsters towards their health and sports to build a healthy society, he added.
The Minister this project will provide opportunities to the aspiring people to start cycling by getting these smart bikes on affordable prices. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait mentioned that three cycle stands for these smart bikes had been made in front of the main gate of Zila Parishad Office. She said that a special app YAANA had been created, which could be downloaded in all smart phones and people could take these bikes after scanning the QR code by making requisite payment online.
                         
There are different membership plans for smart bikes as the project is all set to start in September. The cycle track starts from Zila Parishad Gate, which further leads to Sadar Police Station Chowk, Kheti Bhawan, Indira Colony Chowk, Ring Road Bye-Pass to Radha Soami Satsang Ghar T-Point to Bullanwari Chowk to Services Club and then ends at the starting point.
                             
Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Mayor Surinder Kumar, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, Deputy Mayor Ranjit Chaudhary, Chairman Improvement Trust Rakesh Marwaha etc.
