Special free vaccination camp for differently abled & transgenders
Ludhiana, June 6:
A Special free vaccination camp for differently abled persons and transgenders was organised at Hero DMC Heart Institute, here today. This camp was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and MC Councillor Mamta Ashu. This free vaccination camp was organised with the efforts of NGO City Needs, while free vaccine was donated by Sachit Jain from Vardhman Special Steels and Prem Gupta, Secretary, DMCH Management.
While speaking to mediapersons on the occasion, Varinder Kumar Sharma thanked city industrialists for organising this vaccine “langar” by donating free vaccine for differently abled and transgenders of Ludhiana. Making an emotive appeal to the people of Ludhiana to come and support the needy people by protecting them against Covid-19, the Deputy Commissioner exhorted the people to gift them with vaccine on birthdays and anniversaries which would be service to the humanity. He said that this would be real and unforgettable service to the humanity by sponsoring vaccine for the needy entitled people as vaccine would save their lives from the contagion.
The Deputy Commissioner also appreciated the role of Mamta Ashu, who have been associated with the ongoing vaccination drive since day one.
Mamta Ashu thanked NGO City Needs for organising this special free vaccination camp for transgenders and differently abled persons above 18 years of age. She also thanked the management of DMCH for providing free vaccine for this noble cause.
Prem Gupta said that they have already vaccinated close to 75,000 people at DMCH and they plan to vaccinate close to 1 lakh people in next one month. Sachit Jain urged all industrialists for contributing in this noble cause and sponsor vaccine to needy. After getting vaccinated, Transgender and social activist Mohini Mahant urged all other transgenders to avail full benefit of free vaccination and get themselves vaccinated.
Later, Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal and Joint CP Deepak Pareek also visited the camp. SB Pandhi from City Needs, Dr Rajesh Mahajan and Dr Bishav Mohan from DMCH were also present on the occasion.
