Seven metro stations in national capital likely to remain close in wake of farmers agitation
New Delhi, July 18 2021 : In wake of the call by the farmers organisation to gherao Parliament during the ensuing monsoon session seven key Metro stations in New Delhi are likely to remain closed.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of over 40 farmer unions, has planned that around 200 farmers will hold protests outside Parliament every day during the monsoon session to demand scrapping of the contentious farm laws and a legal guarantee on MSP.
The farmer leaders have maintained that the protests will be “peaceful”.
However, ahead of the proposed protest by farmers outside Parliament during its monsoon session from Monday, the Delhi Police has asked the Delhi Metro Railway Corporation to keep extra vigil at seven metro stations and close them if needed. The seven metro stations that are likely to remain shut are Janpath, Lok Kalyan Marg, Patel Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Mandi House and Udyog Bhawan.
