Red Cross Society to run its own skill development centre for specially abled
– DC takes stock of building, orders officials to submit report in 10-days
Ludhiana, 23 July 2024 : In a new initiative to make the specially-abled persons economically empowered through skill training and selling their products, the Red Cross Society will run its own skill devlopment centre in the near future.
Deputy Comissioner Sakshi Sawhney who is also chairman of District Red Cross Society Ludhiana, took stock of the building and ordered the officials of the panchayati raj department to sumbit the report about renovation of the building within next 10-days.
Sawhney accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Major Amit Sareen and others, mentioned that the specially-abled will be provided training to make them empowered economically.
She pointed out that the centre aimed at changing the lives of specially-abled persons. She emphasized that the center’s goal is to transform the lives of these individuals by offering them opportunities for income and teaching them how to market their products. The Red Cross Society will provide comprehensive support to ensure the proper labeling of these products.
The Deputy Commissioner further mentioned that the district administration is fully committed to improving the lives of specially-abled, considering them an essential part of society. She reiterated the commitment to support these individuals in their journey towards earning a livelihood and stated that they are entitled to the same rights as everyone else.
