RANDEEP SINGH NABHA DIRECTS CLEARING OF PENDING CASES PERTAINING TO GOVERNMENT JOBS FOR FAMILY MEMBERS OF DECEASED FARMERS
AGRICULTURE MINISTER HOLDS VIRTUAL MEETING WITH ALL DCs
Chandigarh, 21 December 2021 : The Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Punjab, Randeep Singh Nabha today directed all the Deputy Commissioners to immediately clear the pending cases related to providing government jobs to the family members of the deceased farmers, who sacrificed their lives during farmers struggle against three black farm laws on borders of Delhi.
In a virtual meeting with the DCs in the presence of Financial Commissioner (Revenue) V.K. Janjua and Additional Chief Secretary (Development) D.K. Tewari, the Minister reviewed each district with regard to the above said issue and instructed that the report about such pending cases be sent immediately.
Reiterating the fulsome support of the Punjab Government to the beleaguered family members of the farmers, the Minister said that the State Government has already given appointment letters to the family members of 152 farmers who sacrificed their lives during the anti-farm law agitation. The appointment letters were handed over by the Ministers and the MLAs personally to the concerned families at their homes as per the directions of the Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
The Minister further said that although the Union Government has rolled back the three draconian farm laws but the Central Government has not yet given any compensation or a job to any farmer. The State Government would continue to extend support to the farming community, added Nabha.
