PUNJAB’S ECONOMY BACK ON FEET, CAPITAL EXPENDITURE SURPASSES THAT OF HARYANA FOR FIRST TIME IN LAST 22 YEARS- FINANCE MINISTER

Jalandhar, July 29 2021 : Punjab Finance Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal today said that due to strenuous efforts of the state government led by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has put the economy of the state back on feet thereby enhancing the capital expenditure of state from Haryana in last two decades.

Addressing the gathering after dedicating operation theatre at Rotary Charitable Hospital Model House here, the Finance Minister, accompanied by MLA Mr. Sushil kumar Rinku and Chairman Punjab Water Resources Management Corporation Mr. Jagbir Singh Brar, said that for the first time in last 22 years capital expenditure of Punjab has enhanced that of Haryana. He said that the annual capital expenditure of Punjab this year is Rs 14000 crore as Compare to Rs 8000 crore of Haryana. Mr. Badal said that this is the result of path breaking initiatives of Captain Government adding that it is a slap on face of those forces who had left a ruined and empty state exchequer a few years back.

The Finance Minister said that Punjab is on the verge of scripting a new success story in every field due to the efforts of the Chief Minister. He said that due to development oriented and progressive policies of the Captain government the well being of every section of the society has been ensured. Mr. Badal also said that Punjab will witness unparallel development in all the sectors in the coming days.

The Minister also said that the Punjab government had taken exemplary steps to save the people from scourge of covid 19 pandemic. He said that the pandemic which was spread in 200 countries across the globe had given a major setback to economy in the entire globe but Punjab combated it in an effective manner. Mr Badal said that no stone was left unturned to secure the interests of Punjabis in this hour of crisis.

The Minister also lauded MLA Mr. Rinku for serving the people of Jalandhar selflessly. He also announced a grant of Rs 50 lakh for the hospital.
Meanwhile, in his address the MLA welcomed the Minister on the occasion and said that this is a red letter day for the entire Jalandhar district. He said that this operation theatre will act as a catalyst in ensuring quality health services to the people belonging to the needy and underprivileged sections.

On the occasion Director Punjab Khadi Board Mr. Major Singh, President Dinesh Sharma, Mr. US Ghai, Mr. Sushil Nagpal, Mr. Brijesh Singhal and others were also present.
