Punjab government names Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib-Bela road after Mata Gujar Kaur ji : Vijay Inder Singla

Sangrur, 16 December 2021 : Punjab Public Works Minister Vijay Inder Singla, on Thursday, informed that the Punjab Government has named the Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib-Bela road after Mata Gujar Kaur ji. The minister said that the road connecting to three historically important cities for Sikhs viz Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib and Sri Chamkaur Sahib will now be known as Mata Gujri Marg.

Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that it was a small gesture of respect by the Punjab government towards the unmatched sacrifice of Mata Gujar Kaur Ji who sent her whole family to attain martyrdom with any sign of regret. He added the road which have been named after her name has a great significance in the history as it connect the cities where four sahibzadas and she herself sacrificed their lives proudly fighting against the atrocities of mughals.

Mr. Singla said that on November 6, Chief Minister S. Charanjit Singh Channi has announced to name the Fatehgarh Sahib-Bela road after Mata Gujar Kaur ji and within a span of 10 days, the PWD has implemented his decision. He said that the 44.53 Km long stretch directly connects Sirhind, Fatehgarh Sahib, Morinda and Sri Chamkaur Sahib cities.

Mr. Singla said that the Punjab government under the dynamic leadership of CM Charanjit Singh Channi has been committed to ensure the overall development of the state within a few months and the PWD has also continuously been working to provide better road connectivity to the people of the state. He said that numerous projects have been completed in Punjab in this regard and better quality of the roads and other projects were also being ensured.
