Promotion of opportunists, moneybags, turncoats and officers by deviating from Panchmarhi resolution will prove fatal for the party – Joginder Mann warns Sonia Gandhi
Expresses surprise over ignoring of terrorist affected families by party during her regime
Phagwara, 10 January 2022 : Former Punjab Minister and Chairman of Punjab Agro Industries Corporation S. Joginder Singh Mann today unequivocally told Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi that promotion of opportunists, moneybags, turncoats and officers by deviating from Panchmarhi resolution will prove fatal for the party.
In a letter to Mrs. Gandhi, the former Minister said that he was peeved to write this letter to her as in his association of about more than 50 years he had never ever thought that he will write such letter to the Congress President.
However, he said that he has been left with no other option as nepotism and corruption rules the roost in the party and today those people who had nurtured the party with their sweat, blood and toil have no place in the Congress party.
He said that Mrs Gandhi was admired across the world for being a daughter in law of the Gandhi family from which over beloved and respected leaders like Mrs Indira Gandhi and Mr. Rajiv Gandhi had sacrificed their lives for unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country.
However, he said that it is unfortunate under stewardship of Mrs. Gandhi party is passing through such a bad phase when such families who have fought terrorism valiantly are being ignored.
He said that during his five decades association with the Congress he had served the party in various capacities as MLA from Phagwara thrice and then as Minister of Punjab government besides having been jailed during emergency and then during various agitations for the people of Punjab.
He said that his uncle respected late Sardar Buta Singh ji who had brought me into the party had got the symbol of palm for the party. He said that apart from this atleast eight members of our families had attained martyrdom during the black days of terrorism.
However, he bemoaned that apparently the Congress don’t need such dedicated and committed cadres now as despite of nurturing Phagwara assembly segment since 1980s today we feel humiliated when we notice that instead of preferring its dedicated workers, the party is interested in bringing in opportunists, moneybags, turncoats, parachute candidates and officers who have nothing to do with the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru or Mrs Gandhi.
He said that only aim of such opportunists, moneybags, turncoats, parachute candidates and officers is to grab power by hook and crook. But he said that unfortunately such persons are being promoted in the party that too at the cost of the party cadre and workers, who have given their entire lives to the party.
He warned Mrs. Gandhi that this needs to be checked else the party can never compete with cadre based parties like BJP, Akali Dal and even AAP.
He said that it is surprising that the much hyped Panchmarhi resolution, which marked the revival of Congress in 2004 at national level, has taken a backseat and now on the name of winnibility such opportunists, moneybags, turncoats, parachute candidates and officers are being promoted who leave the party anytime when their profit motive is over.
He said that this needs to be checked else we will hardly find workers to manage even our booths to fight elections in the coming times. “It is my humble request that promotion of opportunists, moneybags, turncoats and officers will not do anything good to the party but will prove fatal for it” added Mr. Mann.
