Prominent Dalit face of Congress to join SAD today ?
Jalandhar, July 3 2021 : In what can be a major shot in arm of Akali Dal a prominent Dalit face of the Congress party is likely to join Shiromani Akali Dal today at Jalandhar in presence of party supremo Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Sources revealed the suave Dalit leader who had been a Minister and MP from Punjab is likely join Akali Dal despite of long history of his family’s association with Congress. The Dalit who had been ruling shots within the Congress at one point of time has been sidelined in party after his three consecutive poll debacles of 2007, 2012 and 2017. He had been a vocal critic of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and it is learnt that a prominent Dera of the state has played a key role in his entry in the Shiromani Akali Dal.
Pertinently, former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has been camping in Jalandhar since yesterday evening. However, learning a lesson from fiasco created on much hyped but never happened entry of former MLA Ashwani Sekhri in Akali Dal, as Congress managed it on last moment, the party is tight lipped over the entire issue and the entry of Dalit leader is being kept under wraps. However, the absence of this leader in his assembly segment during countrywide protests launched by Congress party to protest against petroleum prices has further fuelled the speculations of his parting away with Congress.
