POLICE TO PROBE FURTHER LINKS TO BUST THE WHOLE DRUG NETWORK – SSP NAVEEN SINGLA

Continuing its drive against drug peddlers by keeping a vigil through high-level checking points in the district, Jalandhar Rural Police on Friday busted a drugs smuggling gang by recovering 1-Kg heroin from the possession of three accused at the Satluj River bridge in Shahkot. The accused have been identified as Harnsraj Singh alias Hans, Kulbir Singh alias Lakha, Balwinder Singh alias Gopi all residents of Village Latianwala, Kapurthala District.
Divulging the details, Senior Superintendent of Police Naveen Singla said that a team led by SP (D) Manpreet Singh Dhillon, DSP Shahkot Davinder Singh today successfully nabbed these three accused while conducting checking at Satluj River bridge. He stated that the police team stopped a car bearing number PB09AG9419 and recovered 1KG heroin from the possession of all three accused adding during further checking the police party also recovered one pistol and a magazine from the dashboard of the car.
Pointing out further, SP (D) Manpreet Singh stated that the accused Han Raj Singh alias Hans and Kulbir Singh alias Lakha were already booked in other cases of NDPS Act. The accused Hans Raj Singh was on bail in an attempt to murder case. He added that the Police have foiled an attempt to pump this drug consignment into the district. Mr. Dhillon said that forward and backward linkages of this gang were under scanner and soon more people would be behind the bars. The Police have produced all three accused before the court, where a police remand of five days has been granted to further investigate the matter.
