NRI Gakhal brothers give Rs 11 lakh cash prize to Indian men and women hockey squad for stellar performance in Olympics
Jalandhar, 01 November 2021 : Recognising the superb performance of Indian men and hockey teams at Tokyo Olympics, NRI Amolak Singh Gakhal gave a cash prize of Rs 11 lakh to the men and women squad.
The cash prize was handed over by Sports Minister Punjab Pargat Singh to players on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Amolak Singh Gakhal said that the stellar performance of players will pave way for restoring the pristine glory of national game in the country. He said that Rs 5.5 lakh cash prize has been given to men squad whereas Rs 5.5 lakh has been given to women squad. He said that both the teams have made the entire country feel proud by there spectacular performance.
He said that this spectacular performance will go down in golden words in the annals of sports history. The NRI said that both the teams have scripted a new success story and will be ever remembered for there stellar role by one and all. He said that this performance has proved that game of hockey was on path of revival.
Showering heaps of praise on the team, he said that the team has upheld the glorious legacy of the great Olympians born in the country. Gakhal said that this performance has laid the foundation of a great movement aimed at revival of the national game.
Pertinently, Gakhal brothers have been supporting the promotion of hockey in a big way. They had contributed generously in this noble cause by giving RS 5 lakh award to winning team of Surjit Hockey Tournament.
