‘NO DIWALI GIFTS PLEASE’, SAYS NOTICE OUTSIDE FARIDKOT DIVISIONAL COMMISSIONER OFFICE AND RESIDENCE
– ALSO URGES FELLOW OFFICERS TO DO THE SAME AND APPEALS PEOPLE TO HELP UNDERPRIVILEGED INSTEAD
Faridkot, 21 October 2022 : Setting an example of transparency among government officials, Faridkot Divisional Commissioner Chander Gaind has refused to accept gifts from visitors on Diwali.
Notices in this regard have been pasted at the entrance to the commissioner’s office and residence. The notices say: “I wish you a very Happy Diwali, no gifts, please. Your good wishes and blessings are all that I need”.
Gaind said, “Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led state government has already taken a slew of measures to bring transparency in the day-to-day office work of the various departments to cultivate an errorless system. This task could be achieved by making bureaucracy more accountable toward the public. Thus it was our duty to contribute to the efforts being made by the state government.”
The Commissioner also called upon other government officials and employees to do the same. He further urged people to donate to the underprivileged instead. Notably, Mr. Gaind during his small yet impressive stint as DC Ferozepur and Commissioner Patiala Division had adopted this practice on Diwali festival of not accepting gifts from visitors by pasting similar notices on his office and residence.
