– The district administration presents Diwali gift to the newspaper hawkers
Nawanshahr, 29 October 2024 : Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman, the district administration Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar saluted the hard work of the newspaper hawkers of the district and accorded them a special honour by giving them new bicycles as a Diwali gift ,at a simple ceremony organised at ITI gound here today.
Newspapers hawkers were overwhelmed with such a gesture shown for the first time to them. Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman said on this short and effective occasion organized with the support of the District Red Cross Society, that newspaper distributors wake up at around four in the morning without leave and sacrifice their personal comforts in extreme winter, hot and bad weather. They also do the work of delivering newspapers to homes and offices without delay. But people do not even know their names. He said that the main religion of these headstrong, tireless and hardworking people is their hard work. He also invited other people to be inspired by their hard work and dedication. The Deputy Commissioner said that this is not a charity, but a noble effort by the district administration to salute their hardwork and passion.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the purpose of honoring these hardworking people is also to give them respect along with encouragement He said that he is very happy to be given this honour.
It is worth mentioning that the awarded newspaper distributors have been continuously distributing newspapers in different cities, towns and villages of District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar for many years. They said that with this honor he got for the first time today, they got a new flight. Sharing their many years of experience in distributing newspapers, they said that today is a happy day and a proud moment for their families. He thanked the Deputy Commissioner for this initiative. Many newspaper distributors were also seen getting emotional on the occasion of receiving the honour. Meanwhile, 35 newspaper distributors were honoured.
On this occasion MLA Banga Dr. Sukhwinder Sukhi, AAP leader Lalit Mohan Pathak Ballu, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Rajeev Verma, SDM Nawanshahr Dr. Akshita Gupta and others were present.
