MP Arora along with MLA & DC reviews work relating to upgradation of Civil Hospital

– Funds for additional shed for patients, water coolers, signages released

Ludhiana, 30 August 2024 : MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora presided over a meeting of government officials from various departments including Health, Punjab Health System Corporation, PWD, District Administration, contractors, and others at Civil Hospital here on Friday, to review the ongoing work of renovation and upgradation works of the hospital.

Prominent among those present on the occasion, included MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, ADC Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Civil Surgeon Dr Pardeep Kumar Mohindra, and Senior Medical Officer Dr Harpreet Singh. Speaking on the occasion, Arora directed the private contractors and others concerned to speed up the development and renovation various works including laying of new sewage system, water proofing, tiling, pavement of roads, washrooms, and wall painting.

Arora also enquired about two lifts, which have started operating recently after a gap of about 12 years. These lifts were faulty and non-functional over the period. He also asked the hospital authorities strictly to ensure that lifts are operational the hospital authorities should also arrange all the time and the liftmen. He reiterated that Civil Hospital Ludhiana has to be made one of the best hospitals across the state. He added the hospital should look lesser than any private hospital as far as the facilities and infrastructure is concerned. He said that the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is giving top priority to improve the infrastructure for health care to provide quality health services to the people, with the aim of providing the best government health facilities to the patients.

Further, Arora asked the hospital authorities to provide him a list of medical equipment which they require. He assured that new high-tech equipment will be procured based on the needs of doctors, to ensure that patients can get all healthcare services under one roof. He directed the officials concerned to ensure that no patient should face any kind of difficulty during treatment at the civil hospital.

Arora asked the hospital authorities to take maximum advantage of Ayushman Scheme. He said Government of India (GoI) has enough funds under the scheme, therefore, the hospital should set up special counters for making cards of the patients under the Scheme. He expressed his great concern over the incidents of thefts taking place in the premises of Civil Hospital. He strictly asked the hospital authorities to make foolproof security arrangements to check cases of thefts.

Further, Arora also expressed his great concern over poor and dissatisfactory working of private contractor of parking of the hospital. He categorically stated that a strict action should be taken against the parking contractor if his services are not up to mark. He asked SMO to send a detailed report to this effect to Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney so that she could take an appropriate action. He regretted that the parking contractor is allowing outsiders other than the patients and their concerned to park the vehicles. He said it has come to his notice that even the contractor is indulging into overcharging for parking of the vehicles.

On the occasion, when Arora was apprised that there is a problem of drinking water in the hospital, he immediately announced to arrange five water coolers on his own. He strictly asked the hospital authorities to ensure proper cleanliness and hygienic conditions in the hospital. He said the state government is making efforts to fill vacant posts of staff at the hospital.

Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney also emphasized that the officials need to make best efforts for early completion of the works to facilitate the people in the Civil Hospital.

On the occasion, MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi and Civil Surgeon Dr Pardeep Kumar Mohindra highly appreciated concrete efforts being made by Arora for renovation and upgradation of the hospital. Pappi said he has never seen a Rajya Sabha Member working with such a devotion and dedication for the cause of people. He asked the health officials to take maximum benefit of services being rendered by Arora.

Arora along with others also took a round of the hospital and interacted with a few patients and their attendants to know about the functioning of the hospital and services being provided there. During round of the hospital, Arora observed that people of facing difficulty due to lack of the facilities at Dispensary, therefore, he asked to make a proper shed with ceiling fans as soon as possible and the requisite funds were released by him at the spot. He was apprised that the shed would be set up at the existing parking place and the parking would be shifted to rear side of the hospital.
