MLA Rajinder Beri inaugurates Jalandhar District Badminton Championship
Jalandhar, 24 August 2021 : The Jalandhar District Badminton Championship, being organized by the District Badminton Association, Jalandhar at Raizada Hansraj Badminton Stadium, kick-started on Tuesday.
The championship was inaugurated by Congress MLA from Jalandhar Central Rajinder Beri. During this event, MLA Beri met the players and also took stock of the works done by the interim committee for the development of the stadium.
Lauding the personal efforts made by the members of the interim committee for the work done for the development of stadium and players in the stadium, he increased the amount of Rs 5 lakh as announced by him for sports canteen to Rs 10 lakh in the stadium.
Meanwhile, the Member of Interim Committee Ritin Khanna informed that 35 events are being held in the championship. He said that the competitions are being organized from Under 11 to 65 plus veteran players. He added that attractive prizes of Rs 2.50 lakh will be given to the players.
He said that the final matches will be held on August 29 besides all the players are being given free refreshments by the association and every player will be rewarded with prizes, trophies and certificates.
Prominent among present on the occasion included Anil Bhatti, Naresh Budhia, Harpreet Singh, Sumit Sharma (Li Ning), Sachin Ratti, Lovleen Kumar, Ranjit Singh and Bhanu Kumar (Think Gas).
