MEGA VACCINATION CAMP: JALANDHAR CROSSES 50K MARK IN A SINGLE DAY, DC LAUDS EFFORTS OF NGOs
Jalandhar, July 3 2021– Taking another lead in vaccination, the Jalandhar District Administration has administered over 50,000 doses in a single day covering beneficiaries of both rural and urban areas by organising about 225 camps including about 23000 jabs given in rural areas. The camps were still on and vaccination was furthrr expected to cross the mark of 65,000 by the late evening.
Lauding the efforts of social and religious Organisations for making the vaccination drive a great success, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the vaccination is need of the hour to keep the infection at bay. He said that around 750 vaccintors and other staff members were deployed at various locations to inoculate all beneficiaries. Thori also appreciated the role played by the social, religious and other organisations to get more than 50000 doses vaccinated. He stated that this rare feat would further encourage our teams to continue with renewed zeal and passion to cover eligible beneficiaries.
“With over 50000 jabs, the district administration has so far administered as many as 6,90,893 doses comprising 5,62,813 first and 1,28,080 first and second doses respectively”, he added. The DC said that more such camps would be held in the district to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries could be vaccinated. He solicited people’s support in this task to keep Covid-19 spread under check, because mass immunization is the only solution to this deadly disease.
Mr. Thori reiterated administration’s commitment to Immunizating maximum numbers of people so that prospective third wave of Covid-19 pandemic was tackled effectively. He stated that more such camps would be organized on the arrival of fresh vaccine stock.
