Khaira left AAP, joined Captain’s Congress
3 June 2021: Today Sukhpal Singh Khaira and two other MLAs Jagdev Singh Kamalu from Mour and Pirmal Singh Dhaula Bhadour constituency, of Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) joined Congress party in presence of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and his wife Preneet Kaur MP. Three of them were suspended by AAP for anti-party activities.
Earlier a news came out of them backstabbing the party, that lead to joining hands with Khaira when he was expelled from AAP. Khaira had contested last Lok Sabha election from Bathinda and lost his deposit.
According to the sources, AICC acting president Sonia Gandhi had given her consent for joining of three MLAs. Khaira had met Sonia Gandhi in Delhi twice in the past month. Harish Rawat AICC General Secretary incharge of Punjab and PPCC president Sunil Jakhar were in Delhi and couldn’t attend the joining ceremony.
After this, Capt Amarinder Singh said he was sure that Congress will emerge stronger with the joining of these two AAP MLAs in the party.
