Chandigarh, 14 January 2022 : Former Punjab Minister Joginder Singh Mann who ended his five decade long association with Congress today is all set to join Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Sources close to Mann said that the former Minister, who is known for having friends across party line, was in close touch with both BJP and AAP. Sources also said that Mann has made up his mind to go with AAP and had preliminary meetings with senior leaders of party including Raghav Chadha, Aman Arora, Harpal Singh Cheema and Bhagwant Mann. Sources also said that Mann has met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today in presence of Raghav Chadha and Bhagwant Mann.

Both the leaders have finalised the joining procedure for the former Congress leader who is a big SC face in Punjab. AAP leadership is also keen to have a SC leader of this stature with the party to further boost their prospects in the state. Mann, who is nephew of Congress stalwart and former Union Minister late Dr Buta Singh, has a good hold over the Valmiki/ Mazhbi Sikh community across the state.

AAP leaders are considering it as a win win situation for them as it will further strengthen their position in Doaba, the SC heartland of Punjab. The party is seeing it as a major shot in arm for the party as Mann can be further helpful in tilting the tables in their side. Sources also said that AAP is likely to field Mann from his home turf Phagwara.
