Jamia Professor suspended amid sexual assault allegations by four PhD scholars
NewDelhi, 18 July 2024 : Jamia Millia Islamia’s professor has been suspended due to allegations of mental and sexual harassment by four research scholars. The students accused the professor of sexual harassment, non-cooperation, disrespectful behavior, undisciplined behavior, using uncouth and uncivilized language and also made “sexual overtures”.
The suspended professor has been barred from taking classes and asked to mark his physical attendance at the chief protocor’s office. In response, the professor has denied the allegations claiming that them as an attempt to malign his academic reputation. The University has ordered an inquiry by the internal complaints committee and also bars professor’s commuting without intimation.
