Is curfew in Manipur a warning of third wave of Covid ?
Chandigarh, July 17 2021 : With the Manipur government announcing 10 days complete curfew in the state from July 18 in wake of presence of Delta variant of Corona virus the signs of third wave of Covid 19 pandemic seems to be visible in the country.
Health experts and Indian Medical Association has already warned the people about such wave. Though this wave was expected in mid August but the early tracing of this wave in Manipur is a sign of major worry. The country has recently witnessed second wave of the pandemic and acute shortage of oxygen along with other basic facilities have exposed the chinks in healthcare infrastructure across the country.
As per advisory of the experts the third wave can put major risk to life of people. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed concern over the callous attitude of people in dealing with the pandemic. Asserting that second wave of the Covid is not yet over the Union government had also asked the states to issue strict directions to the district and all other local authorities concerned, to regulate the crowded places and take necessary nieasures for management of COVID-19.
However, despite of all efforts of government people have been thronging the hill stations, public places without any mask which has been a matter of grave concern for all. Blatant violations of COVID norms have been observed in several parts of the country, especially in public transport and at hill stations. Massive crowds are also thronging the market places, violating norms of social distancing. After the signs of third wave hitting the country focus on the five-fold strategy for effective management of COVID-19 i.e. Test-Track-Treat-Vaccination and adherence to COVID appropriate behaviour is the need of hour for which people have to play a proactive role.
