According to the latest reports, the state has recorded a remarkable historic growth of 22.35% in GST (Goods and Services Tax) collection during the first six months of the year 2025-26. The state\u2019s total GST collection reached \u20b913,971 crores during April to September 2025, compared to \u20b911,418 crores during the same period last year. This achievement is significantly higher than the national average, as the national GST growth rate remained around 6%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated that Punjab recorded an additional GST revenue growth of \u20b92,553 crores during the first six months of this year. He mentioned that during the same period last year, the state\u2019s GST growth rate was merely 5%, which has now increased to 22.35%.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-151323\" src=\"https:\/\/timespunjab.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-10-05-at-1.29.31-PM-1-300x158.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"158\" srcset=\"https:\/\/timespunjab.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-10-05-at-1.29.31-PM-1-300x158.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/timespunjab.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-10-05-at-1.29.31-PM-1.jpeg 310w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Punjab government\u2019s strict action and enforcement policy against tax evasion has played a decisive role in revenue growth. During April to September 2025, the Taxation Department canceled input tax credit worth \u20b9246 crores of 1,162 taxpayers and also registered strict FIRs in major tax fraud cases. Road checking and inspection led to a notable 134% increase in penalty collection.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Not just GST, Punjab has also achieved 10% growth in VAT and Central Sales Tax (CST). Additionally, an 11% increase has been recorded in Punjab State Development Tax (PSDT) collection.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Despite challenges in May 2025 such as \u2018war-like\u2019 economic conditions, decline in consumer demand, and impact of tariffs on exports, Punjab has set new records in revenue collection, leaving other states behind.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, the state government\u2019s strong policies, transparency, and determination have not only taken Punjab\u2019s economy to memorable heights but have also given new strength to the state\u2019s financial health.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This achievement is not only the result of the trust of Punjabis and the government\u2019s efforts, but also a symbol of the government\u2019s commitment toward Punjab\u2019s overall economic development, transparency, and administrative reforms.
