{"id":13283,"date":"2021-08-26T11:49:14","date_gmt":"2021-08-26T11:49:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timespunjab.com\/?p=13283"},"modified":"2021-08-26T11:49:14","modified_gmt":"2021-08-26T11:49:14","slug":"punjab-cabinet-paves-way-for-govt-jobs-to-outstanding-sportpersons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timespunjab.com\/?p=13283","title":{"rendered":"PUNJAB CABINET PAVES WAY FOR GOVT JOBS TO OUTSTANDING SPORTPERSONS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Chandigarh, 26 August 2021 : <\/strong>Fulfilling the commitment made by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to the state\u2019s sportspersons who brought laurels in the recent Tokyo Olympics, the Punjab Cabinet on Thursday decided on amendment to rules to pave the way for a special employment dispensation for outstanding sportspersons.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sportspersons displaying excellence in Olympics, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games, as well as World Cup tournaments, will be recruited in various departments under the Sports quota, following amendment to Rule 3 of Punjab Recruitment of Sportsmen Rules, 1988, through insertion of Rule 3A.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to an official spokesperson, with the incorporation of new rule, preference would be given to the medal winners of Olympic Games and World Cup\/Championships (4-yearly) in International sports events (viz. FIFA World Cup Football, IAAF World Cup in Athletics, FIBA Basketball World Cup, Volleyball World Cup and Hockey World Cup), as also to metalists of both Asian Games and Commonwealth Games, for appointment against State Civil Services and posts connected with the affairs of the State.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Chief Minister has been authorized by the Cabinet to make any changes in the policy to accommodate sportspersons from more categories.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The decision is also aimed at motivating youth to take up sports as a
