Jalandhar, 20 August 2021 :<\/strong> The transfers made by Punjab government today bereft Jalandhar residents from a decorated Police officer who probably was the only one in history of the district to have ruled the hearts of people with his impeccable working style.<\/p>\n

Gurpreet Singh Bhullar had joined as the Commissioner of Police in the city on September 2018. Since then with his dedication, commitment and perseverance he had not only been able to carve a niche for himself but had also managed to win the hearts of people. A third generation IPS officer from his family he was the third person from his family to have headed the Police force in district.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \"\" \"\"<\/p>\n

His grandfather had served Jalandhar as chief of Police, then his father GIS Bhullar as Senior Superintendent of Police in 1980s and after that Gurpreet Singh Bhullar himself first as Senior Superintendent of Police during 2004-2005, then in 2017-2018 and then as Commissioner of Police since 2018. Apart from maintaining law and order situation and reducing the crime rate the biggest achievement of Bhullar was that he had been able to emerge as \u2018Public\u2019s CP\u2019 an epitaph which no other Police officer had been ever able to attain. His accessibility and readiness to meet people with open arms enhanced his popularity amongst the people.<\/p>\n

The Corona crisis saw him as the biggest barrier between the pandemic and people. He, along with Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, not only saved the precious lives of people but also maintained law and order in those crucial times. He also roped in philanthropist and the social workers to ensure timely help to the needy people in the hour of crisis which helped in giving a facelift to the image of the Police to people friendly instead of the brut one as prevalent since British raj.<\/p>\n

Bhullar was able to snap the supply of drugs efficaciously and played a significant role in rehabilitation of the drug addicts. Jalandhar will never be the same without this dedicated Police officer and people will for sure miss his impeccable and meticulous working style.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
