GEAR UP FOR UPCOMING PADDY PROCUREMENT SEASON – SENIOR ADVISOR TO CM ASKS GOGs
Jalandhar, 06 September 2021 : Senior Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh Lieutenant General (Retd) TS Shergill today exhorted the Guardians of Governance (GoGs) to gear up for the upcoming paddy procurement season so that farmers are facilitated in the grain markets during the entire operation.
Presiding over a meeting with the GoGs here at the district administrative complex, the Senior Advisor, accompanied by his Officer on Special Duty Mr. Karanveer Singh, District Head of the GoGs Major General (Retd.) Balwinder Singh, said that the Covid-19 pandemic was posing a major danger to human life, thus it was need of the hour to ensure strict adherence to medical protocol during procurement.
Lieutenant General (Retd.) Shergill also said that GOGs have been entrusted to ensure the strict compliance of the directives of the government in the grain markets during the entire procurement operations. He said that the vigil eyes of the GOGs have already given good results as the procurement operations were conducted smoothly and hassle-free in the grain markets last during previous years.
Terming GoG scheme a huge success in the state, the Senior Advisor to Chief Minister said that the GoGs have also been submitting accurate, unbiased and factual reports pertaining to the government schemes. Lieutenant General (Retd.) Shergill said that the GOGs have already been creating awareness in masses at village level with respect to pro-people policies of state government.
Describing GoGs as the eyes and ears of the state government, the Senior Advisor said that they were working for realizing the dream of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to make Punjab a front ranking state in the country. Lieutenant General said that the Chief Minister has bestowed a huge responsibility on shoulders of every ex-serviceman by initiating this unprecedented scheme and all of them have been working hard to make concerted efforts to ensure its huge success.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori had a meeting with Lieutenant General (Retd.) Shergill and apprised him of the action being taken by the administration on the feedback submitted by GOGs.
