ALSO ASKS EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS TO COMPLETE VACCINATION OF STUDENTS IN 15-18 AGE GROUPS
CALLS UPON PEOPLE TO COME FORWARD FOR COMPLETION OF THEIR VACCINATION TO ENSURE 100 PERCENT INOCULATION OF ELIGIBLE BENEFICIARIES
JALANDHAR, 23 FEBRUARY 2022 : Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today directed the health officials to ensure complete vaccination by delivering pending second doses to all eligible beneficiaries by Sunday so as to achieve the goal of vaccination of all. He also asked educational institutions to ensure vaccination of students falling in the age group of 15-18 years at the nearest government healthcare centers.
Reviewing the vaccination drive here at the district administrative complex, the DC said that so far over 94 percent of the eligible beneficiaries have been covered with the first dose, while about 83 percent have received both the doses. He asserted that the due second doses to be delivered to remaining eligible beneficiaries by Sunday this, so that the goal of vaccination of all could be achieved within the stipulated timeline.
Emphasizing the need for maximum vaccination of students falling in the age group of 15-18 years, the DC asked the educational institutions of Jalandhar to ensure the vaccination of eligible students by Sunday at the nearest healthcare centers.
He further directed all the nursing/ degree colleges, government & private schools, IELTS institutions to assist their eligible students in vaccination as the district administration has already planned as many as 256 session sites across Jalandhar including 98 sites in Jalandhar-I sub division, 34 sites in Jalandhar-II, 59 in Phillaur, 38 in Nakodar, and 27 in Shahkot sub divisions. The DC also interacted with all principals over video conference and urged them to complete adolescent vaccination by Sunday i.e. Feb 27, 2022.
He also mentioned that as many as 3335302 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been delivered to eligible beneficiaries comprising 1694145, 1499705 first and second doses respectively besides 74391 doses to adolescents in the 15-18 age group, and 67061 precautionary doses.
Notably, the district administration had earlier issued a helpline number for assisting people with vaccination related issues including generation of certificates besides giving information to people about the nearest vaccination sites. Giving more details, the DC said that the helpline number 0181-2224417 is working round the clock, where people can lodge their grievances with respect to problems in their Covid-19 vaccination.
He also added that the administration had been receiving complaints regarding people facing problems in getting their vaccination certificates, thus, a dedicated helpline number had been set up to resolve such issues. He also said that the helpline was also providing information about nearest vaccination sites to people wanting to get their Covid-19 jabs.
Mr. Thori called upon people to come forward in huge numbers for the inoculation as the district administration has made elaborate arrangements by setting up mobile vaccination camps around 256 locations in Jalandhar. He said that it was our collective responsibility to eliminate this disease from society, which could be achieved through one hundred percent vaccination of all eligible beneficiaries. On the occasion Civil Surgeon Dr. Ranjit Singh, DIO Dr. Rakesh Chopra, SMOs and other officials from the district administration were present.
