Encroachment by Wine contractors pose risk to life, administration turns blind eye
Jalandhar, 6 May 2022 : Keeping all norms at bay Wine contractors at Jalandhar have illegally encroached prime road in the city with Police and Municipal Corporation authorities remaining mute spectators thereby putting life of commuters at risk.
The wine contractors have illegally encroached a prime road in the Defence Colony locality of the city. Long queues of illegally parked vehicles of wine contractors can be seen parked haphazardly on the roads of the posh colony of the city. These haphazardly parked vehicles cause a lot of inconvenience to the commuters especially in the morning as students of four schools viz St Joseph’s Convent, St Joseph Boys, Seventh Day Adventist and Kendriya Vidhyalaya passes through this road.
The vehicles are parked after the sun set thereby posing grave risk to life of commuters passing through this dark road as none of the vehicles have reflectors. The vehicles continued to be park late in the morning resulting in huge inconvenience to people. Though the residents have complained about it a number of times to authorities but action is awaited so far.

But unfazed by this and probably drunk in power the wine contractors don’t bother about it. Apart from commuters, the temporary illegal encroachment by them also causes serious trouble for the residents living in the area. The residents have also lodged their complaints with the Police and Municipal Corporation authorities.
But instead of taking any action against the violating wine contractors the Police and civic body officers have been shielding them. This is clearly evident from the fact that despite of the fact that Police station is 100 metres away from place where these vehicles are parked no action has been taken against the contractors. Sources said that the law enforcing agencies have become hand in glove with the erring contractors due to which they have turned blind eye towards this illegal encroachment. None of the officers of the Police or Municipal Corporation were available for comment.
